Vision and Mission
NAFCED Vision
NAFCED’S vision is to establish a membership association which will take a pro-active and constructive role in developing and
advancing the careers of racial and ethnic minority coaches into significant positions of leadership in the coaching profession.
NAFCED Mission Statement
The principle mission of the National Association for Coaching Equity and Development (“NAFCED”) is to become the premier Association
dedicated to empowering, developing and advancing the professional careers of racial and ethnic minority coaches in athletics. Our
mission includes the improved retention of the existing pool of racial and ethnic minority head coaches; the significant expansion of
the number of racial and ethnic minority head coaches at all levels; the creation of a pipeline of qualified future racial and ethnic
minority coaches; and the advocacy for the establishment of equitable employer organizational cultures and work environments that are
conducive to the long term professional and financial success of current and future racial and ethnic minority coaches.
NAFCED will achieve our mission through the following strategic objectives:
-
NAFCED will promote the educational and professional development of coaches through national training and
professional development academies and regional educational programs for its membership.
-
NAFCED will provide a forum to facilitate dialogue through a professional network that enhances discussion among the
membership on a myriad of topics pertaining to the coaching profession.
-
NAFCED will expand the overall population of head racial and ethnic minority coaches by working with colleges,
universities, search firms, private clubs and conferences to promote, identify and hire racial and ethnic minority
coaches for top leadership positions, at all levels of coaching.
-
NAFCED will create and establish a database which will become the most comprehensive repository of racial
and ethnic minority coaches in the sports industries.
-
NAFCED will take a lead role in advocating on behalf of the Association’s membership and becoming the national voice to
address racial and ethnic minority coaching issues and needs.
-
NAFCED will take an active role in advocating for Student athlete welfare by addressing and raising constructive
concerns and objections to NCAA legislation and policies which disproportionately affect racial and ethnic minority
student athletes to their detriment.
